Shipyard

In 1968 Neil Fernando, a mechanical engineer by trade, founded the shipyard bearing his name. Those pioneering days are far behind for Neil Fernando & Co., now the largest GRP boatyard in western Asia with customers all over the world. With a 75% share in the local market Neil Fernando realized future growth had to come from export. Next to the yachtbuilding for Menken Maritiem the building of lifeboats for the offshore industy significantly boosted the boatyards turnover in the recent years.
The Negombo boatyard has 350 staff. Neil Fernando owns a variety of other companies in hotelrefurnishing, building construction, tourism and furniture manufacturing. with 17 outlets and 1200 staff the Penthouse Group is one of the larger private employers in Sri Lanka.
Since 2006 the yard is ISO 9001:2000 certified. The lifebaots are build under IMO Solas regulations and the yachts are build according to Lloyds regulations. Who offers more structural quality in their production and products?
